CLIENT
Cargill Feed (Zhenjiang) Co. Ltd.
Ibberson, in a joint venture with The Zhong Hong Group, were awarded the contract for the second slipform concrete feed manufacturing facility in China. The facility was built for Cargill Animal Nutrition Division, Minneapolis, USA.
The two companies formed a team to provide turnkey construction for the facility, Ibberson performed the engineering on the process tower, all non-Chinese equipment supply, equipment installation and supervision, and overall project management. Zhong Hong provided local engineering, local equipment supply, civil construction services and labor to perform complete installation services. The mill is in Zhenjiang, about 80 kilometers southwest of Nanjiang.
Concrete slipforming produces a single, seamless, monolithic structure by the continuous pumping of concrete into setting forms that are gradually raised to shape the facility. This slip was completed in 12 days, rising to a height of 62 meters above the foundation. The Zhenjiang mill has three hammer mills, one five-ton double-ribbon mixer, and two 400-horsepower pellet presses. Finished feed is transferred to 14 bagging bins above three bagging lines. The plant also has a twin-screw extruder for making fish feeds.
There is 9,000 tons of flat storage on the mill site, as well as 16,000 tons of storage in steel grain silos. Designed for flexibility in production, the feed mill will at first produce primarily bagged broiler chicken and pig feeds for a dealer network supplying farmers in Zhenjiang Province. Later, it will produce a wide variety of animal feeds.
