Ibberson provided engineering, fabrication, on-site construction supervision, and technology transfer training for a modular factory.
Feed processing and handling machinery were assembled at the Ibberson factory in the United States in 12 box-like steel structures designed to ship as standard ocean containers. The tube-frame containers were assembled in the fabrication shop where many of the feed processing and handling systems were tested and de-bugged. The plant was then disassembled and shipped as subassemblies to Thailand.
Purina (Thailand), a subsidiary of Ralston Purina International (RPI), chose modular design because they desired the shortest possible construction schedule with the highest quality control particularly regarding key processing systems.
The Ibberson-designed mill features a hybrid batching system that prebatches or co-mingles most macro ingredients, including cereals and protein sources, prior to grinding. Other macro-ingredients, primarily minerals and soft or pre-ground raw materials, bypass grinding and go directly to the main batching system. The hybrid batching system permits a higher level of flexibility and efficiency in processing a wide range of raw materials.
